Lost and Found
When: First week of each month
What: Donate unclaimed items, post new items on instagram
How: Let’s say today is January 2nd.
Open each lost and found locker and take out everything marked as November (or earlier). Put it in a plastic bag and walk it over to Pandora Thrift. Donations are typically left in the changing area, but talk to staff if it’s your first time.
Take pictures of every item that is marked as December. Group items by category so that you’re only taking 3-4 photos. (Put water bottles together, climbing gear together, shoes/chalk, clothes, etc.)
Post the photos on instagram. Add a title page. The title pages for each month can be found in the Lost and Found folder on the front desk Mac. Add a caption that says something along the lines of ‘Lost and found for December is here! See something that belongs to you? Grab your items by the end of the month. Unclaimed items will be donated.’
Put the water bottles from December into the ‘old bottles’ locker. Anything from January stays in the locker and will be posted next month.
Laundry
When: Whenever the dirty laundry bin is getting full
What: Take laundry bin to Ocean Island and put it through a washer and then dryer
How:
Take bin of dirty laundry to Ocean Island.
Stop at the front desk and let them know you are from the climbing gym. Ask for detergent and laundry tokens.
Go downstairs into the laundry room, find any open washer and start a cycle. Put a timer on your phone so you remember to go switch it to a dryer. Once in the dryer, put another timer on and then go get the laundry when it’s done.
No need to fold. Just throw the clean stuff into the clean bin and that’s it!
Updating upcoming events posters
When: Whenever the current posters are becoming out of date. Usually once every 2-3 weeks.
What: Edit the template to add upcoming events
How:
Open the template on the front desk Mac in Pages
Delete any events that have already passed
Go through the RGP calendar to see upcoming events and add them to the document
Print 8 pages and replace the old ones in the snap frame. Recycle old ones.
Voicemails
When: Whenever there are unread voicemails
What: Listen and respond to voicemails.
How:
Dial *98
Listen to voicemails. Write down the number and call the person back if you know how to answer their question. Delete the voicemail if it has been dealt with by pressing 7.
Don’t know how to answer the question? Save the message by pressing 9. Send a push it up with the person’s question and how to reach them.
