Spring Fling Comp Thing 2026

A floral enduro comp celebrating the spring season, for the adventurous and uninhibited climbers who want to find the limits of their ability to enjoy climbing.

From April 6th to May 2nd, show up and try to top the new set each week for one (1) point per climb. All climbs weighted the same, all skill levels welcome. The name of the game is to make peace with pump, get more wall time, and enjoy the burn.

Take note, folks! Friendly Friday has been rescheduled due to Good Friday and will take place on APRIL 10TH from 7PM to 930PM for April. 🥚🐰

Never been to Friendly Friday? Drop by Crag X and let the front desk know you're with Friendly Friday. Join Amy as she pairs you up with some lovely folks and hopefully you'll make new friends!

Try to arrive between 7 and 7:30, but if you come later, no problem! Just ask staff to direct you to the Friendly Friday crew.

Friendly Friday is free for members, and a $13 drop-in for non-members. No booking ahead. Must be belay tested at Crag X.

Saturday Morning Climbing Club

Saturday Morning Climbing Club is back with comp-focused flavour! Spend your mornings with our wonderful Saturday Morning Climbing Club instructor and get in extra time to work on your SFCT projects throughout the week. Your instructor will focus on comp strategy and training throughout the series during warm-ups, then provide insight into how to tackle your proj and hype you up for your sends. Remember: growth rarely happens in isolation, but through a vast network of collaboration. Let's take the time to learn from each other and hopefully learn more about ourselves in the process!

Did we mention that SFCT participants receive a discount for 10% off of Saturday Morning Climbing Club?

BIPOC Climbing Meet-Up

Come down to the gym on April 17th from 6PM to 830PM for BIPOC Climbing’s third ever meet-up event at Crag X. They will be giving away 2 tickets to the SICA MELLOW Film Tour at the event, so make sure to join the meet-up for a chance to win!

If you are new to climbing or aren’t belay certified you are still welcome to join them. Please sign up here so they can prepare to have enough belayers on hand to let everyone in, but if you are able to make it last minute and didn’t sign up that’s okay too! Happy climbing, everyone.

South Island Climbers Association (SICA) will be hosting the MELLOW Film Tour on Thursday April 23rd at The Vic Theatre. Doors are at 630PM, films start at 7PM.

See Brooke Raboutou, Sean Bailey & Connor Herson on the hardest ascents in the world, plus an Alaskan alpine curveball: two of the best in the mountains—Jackson Marvell & Matt Cornell—take Shawn Raboutou and Nathaniel Coleman way out of their element. Come watch the next generation make history.

Spring Fling Comp Thing Finals Day

By now you’ve probably heard about our upcoming competition, Spring Thing Comp Thing 2026: an intentionally pumpy, endurance-focused comp that culminates in a 40-route finale. Who would try climbing 40 routes in a day—more than that, who would want to?

Well, we would, and we hope you’re crazy enough to attempt it with us. The boldness and drive of our climbers is part of the reason why we love this community so much, and why we chose to challenge you to climb as much as you can.

But don’t fret, with pain comes pleasure. We are planning on making Finals Day a mini climbing festival with a relaxation zone, a t-shirt stamping station, vendors, booths, and beverages and food available to fuel your weary bodies, not to mention bumpin’ tunes and a whole lot of psyched climbers.
