Thinking of showing a friend the ropes?

Awesome. As long as you have been belay tested on a previous visit, you can take advantage of our non-belayer offer. Sign in one friend per visit and pledge to take care of all the safety systems for their visit; you’ll be able to belay your friend, clip them in and out of the auto-belays and boulder together. They can’t belay you but we offer a great beginner lesson if they’re keen to get into it after you show them a good time.

Follow these steps for an easy access on your first visit:

Send them a link to our page for non-belayers, so that they can get an idea of what climbing at Crag X is going to be like.
Your friend needs to sign our waiver like everyone else.
Sign the Non-Belayer Agreement together when you arrive at the gym.
Share a punch, use a guest pass, or buy a day pass and rentals.
Our staff will check the harness, attach a non-belayer tag and give you and your non-belayer a quick verbal orientation at the start of your session. Even still, we rely on you as the designated belayer to help them asses the risks they are willing to take, especially when it comes to bouldering.

Like any other sport facility, there are a few rules we need you to follow:

No teaching. We know you know your stuff but we earn our livelihood teaching climbing. Plus, our insurance people need us to be the ones teaching in our gym.
Only one Non-Belayer per Belayer per visit. If you’re a member have a peek below for the perks.
You can't sign in a Non-Belayer on your first visit. Climbing is dangerous so we like to make sure you know what you’re doing before you take responsibility for someone else.
