New Climber Sponsorship (NPOs)

 Non-Profits and Crag X

One of the major reasons Crag X is an exceptional place is because of our community. Crag X is dedicated to giving back and making climbing more accessible to everyone. Annually, Crag X allocates over $25,000 in value to support the community, divided between our two programs: the Sliding Scale Membership and the New Climber Sponsorship.

The NCS is a program that is intended for registered members from any non-profit organization. This program is built out of three phases. These phases are flexible, depending on the needs and the number of participants from each organization.

New Climber Sponsorship Phases

1: Start Climbing
Crag X offers a free beginner lesson to Non-Profit Organization (NPO) staff and social workers. This will enable them to bring their registered members to the climbing wall for $19, including equipment rentals and entry for the belayer. This phase is an excellent opportunity for members from the NPO to try climbing for the first time and build relationships between the members, the social workers, and the Crag X staff.

2: Apply for funds
With assistance from Crag X, the NPO can apply for funding. Based on the amount and the number of participants, Crag X offers a climbing package that includes lessons, punch passes, and gear for registered members. This funding allows members to climb more frequently and independently, without relying on NPO staff or social workers anymore. This phase begins once the NPO observes a significant interest from their members.

3: Member Support
After the start of phase two, the registered members who have been climbing regularly and have shown increased interest in climbing can be enrolled in the New Climber Sponsorship program.
