Community Setting Day
Hey Climber!
We are pleased to offer this community setting day with the goal of giving our members a taste of what route setting can be like. This day serves as a chance for us to educate members around the basics of setting boulders and how this process is executed.
Participants will be given the opportunity to set 2 boulders and participate in the forerunning process (this is where we test and adjust the boulders that were set). In order to maximize forerunning involvement, you should be comfortable climbing to, and falling off the top of our bouldering walls.
Participants of all experience levels are welcome - no prior route setting knowledge is needed or expected. We will cover all the basics of safety and tool use, with the assumption being that participants have never route set before.
Route setting is physically demanding, so come in expecting to work. It’s not just about putting holds on the wall - you will spend time moving containers of holds, lifting holds above your head, going up and down ladders, trying your own boulders and the boulders of other people - sometimes repeatedly! Please ensure you’re feeling physically up to the challenge before sending in an application.
The day will start at 8am on Monday, February 24th and wrap up by 4pm.
Feel free to reach out to Laura at laura@cragx.ca if you have questions or desire further clarification around anything.
